Kelsey MacDonald's 2019 Season Comes to an End with a Bang

Hello Everyone!

My last two events were the Andalucía Open and the Magical Kenya Ladies Open.

The Andalucía open at Aloha Golf Club brought back some negative thoughts for me, as 3 years ago I fell ill on course with a burst appendix and a few complications thereafter. So I was determined to turn the week into a positive place for me! I did a lot of on-course work with my putting coach Nick Soto, righ before the tournament. We worked on a little bit of technique but mostly on green reading and pace putting.

The greens were very slopey and fast so this was a great week to do some work which would benefit me, not just for the next tournament, but for the season 2020 coming up. I didn’t get off to the best of starts but with a great second round under par to secure my place into the weekend, I was very pleased. I didn’t continue the form I would have liked for the weekend but was very happy to get work done and not slip down the Order of Merit.

After a long travel day we made it to Kenya -  such a beautiful country with amazing people! I was extremely lucky with my draw and played with a good friend and fellow Scot Michele Thomson on the first two rounds. First round I shot -1 and on the second round I shot 68 -4 with a total of -5 going into the weekend.

I was sitting in T2nd place going into the weekend and playing in the final group. The last grouping was televised which was a different pressure for me.

It was something I hadn’t experienced in a while, and although my weekend wasn't what I was hoping for, it was still part of my journey to cope with being in the limelight and I took a lot from that week. I also learnt a lot of Swahili from my local caddy and I have gone home with a lot of amazing memories!

Ending on a high and climbing up the Order of Merit gives me such a boost knowing all the hard work is paying off.

It’s not long until next season so doing some work to try and carry on the momentum of where I left off. I am so grateful to all who have helped me this year, especially Peak Scientific! Looking forward to representing them next year with an extremely positive schedule.

First stop for 2020 is Australia!

Have a wonderful Christmas and Hogmanay!
