Only one button for start-up and shutdown, with easy user maintenance performed in just one minute - Precision Hydrogen SL is gas generation made simple. But not when it comes to safety.

Smaller, simpler, safer: Hydrogen Gas Safety with Precision Hydrogen SL

At Peak Scientific, we understand how important safety is for our customers. Despite its simple operation and compact design, Precision Hydrogen SL encompasses all the high specification safety features as its predecessors, making sure hydrogen gas generation remains the safer option for labs using GC-FID.

On-site Hydrogen Gas Generator

Hydrogen gas cylinders used for GC-FID applications can be a huge safety concern for lab managers. Being a highly flammable gas, hydrogen can combust with as little as 23% air. This means that even little amounts of air stored in lines or tanks can pose potential risks.

Whilst eliminating transportation charges and the need for a storage facility, an on-site hydrogen gas generator is also a safer solution to highly pressurized storage tanks. For this reason, a number of laboratories across the world are now switching to an on-site hydrogen gas generator.

An on-site hydrogen gas generator ensures hydrogen gas safety is implemented in the lab, with very low volumes of gas stored at a time. A hydrogen gas generator also comes equipped with additional features, such as in-built leak detection technology, for a safer working environment.

Precision Hydrogen SL – Safety Uncompromised

Peak Scientific’s Precision Hydrogen SL, specifically designed for GC-FID instruments, is a safe solution for hydrogen gas supply, offering peace of mind for safety and convenience.

Lower pressure

Precision Hydrogen SL operates at a very low pressure – just 100psi/6.9 bar. This level of pressure, designed to meet the requirements of the application, is much lower than the high pressure head of hydrogen gas stored in a cylinder. With a pressure of 100psi, Precision Hydrogen SL ensures there is no risk of the sudden release of highly pressurized hydrogen into the air.

Built-in leak detection

Another safety aspect of Precision Hydrogen SL is the built-in auto-shutdown fail-safe feature. This means that the generator will automatically shut down in the rare event that a leak is detected. Unlike storage tanks, cylinders or dewars, where there is little technological input to halt gas generation, Precision Hydrogen SL is programmed with cutting-edge technology accounting for potential danger.

Small storage quantities

Precision Hydrogen SL only stores a maximum of 175ml of hydrogen gas at any one time. This gas is then used up by the instrument as soon as it is generated. Coupled with built-in leak detection means a hydrogen generator presents a much safer gas supply than pressurized cylinders. Precision Hydrogen SL offers the safer option when compared to gas cylinders, which can store up to 9,000L of gas at any one time, posing explosive risks if not handled correctly.

Flow rates under control

A hydrogen gas generator has a maximum flow rate. The maximum flow rate of Precision Hydrogen SL is 200cc/min. This low flow rate amount is nowhere close to the lower explosive limit (LEL) of the gas, which would take up to 2050L of hydrogen gas to reach.

Precision Hydrogen SL can produce hydrogen gas safely and reliably for labs using GC-FID. Hydrogen can be produced on-demand with Precision Hydrogen SL, which is much safer way of supplying gas to a flame detector, ensuring the safety in your lab is not jeopardized.
