Peak provides nitrogen for Proteomics
Eduardo Chicano-Galvez and his team at Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba (IMIBIC) use a Peak Infinity 1032 compressor-less nitrogen generator for their studies into proteomics for biomedicines. Proteomics research is focused on developing drugs, detecting potential therapeutic targets, diagnostics, vaccine development, searching for biomarkers and other related fields.
We asked Eduardo some questions about his experience with his generator and the benefits it has brought to his lab, read his answers below:
Typically, what is the focus of your LC-MS analysis - what sort of applications?
"We are mainly focused on analysis of proteome via DIA, DDA or SRM. We help our researchers to develop new strategies for diagnostics, prognostics and new panels of biomarkers."
What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what LC-MS instruments do they supply?
"We have, now, an Infinity 1032 generator in our lab and it’s supplying nitrogen to an Sciex Triple TOF (5600+) and to a Waters Xevo TQS."
What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used them?
"Our decision was mainly based on recommendations from other users and the mass spectrometer suppliers. We have been using this generator since July 2014."
What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?
"I think that the principal benefits are the technical support and the quality of gas supplied."
How would you describe your purchasing experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?
"It was so easy to purchase this generator. We wanted fast and friendly support and this is exactly what we received from Peak."
Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?
"Yes, we had a Peak engineer visit our lab and it was a great experience because the engineer was the fastest one I have ever seen. In addition I must say that the engineer solved all our problems with the generator."
Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?
"Yes, I would recommend it of course! The main reasons as I said previously are the good quality of gas supplied and the technical and sales support."
As described, the main benefits Eduardo and his team have experienced with having a Peak Scientific generator to provide their nitrogen supply for LC-MS is the quality of the gas and the technical support they have received from Peak's Field Service Engineer. At Peak we pride ourself on providing products which our customers can rely on and the support to help our customers achieve the best results. We have Field Service Engineers stationed throughout the globe on hand to support our customers no matter where they are.
Peak Scientific's Infinity series generators have been designed for labs which already have a reliable source of quality air installed in their facility either through pipework or from a treated compressed air system.
