ASMS 2023 Round Up

The ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics 2023 landed in Houston, Texas, this year with over 6,000 attendees descending on the George R. Brown Convention Center over the week-long event.

The show, as always, was brimming with new innovations and product launches. PEAK were proud to launch the newest addition to our nitrogen offering, the Horizen 24, while Agilent, Bruker, Thermo Fisher and Waters all introduced new products to the market as well.

Horizen 24

Designed for Single Quad LC-MS, Horizen 24 is the culmination of 25 years of dedication to manufacturing nitrogen generation solutions for LC-MS. PEAK has introduced a range of proprietary technologies to create its most efficient nitrogen generator to date. Featuring brushless compressors which reduce power consumption by over 50%, a two-stage active moisture safeguard to minimize the risk of moisture entering the gas stream, and heat optimization technology to protect the membrane from water droplets which enhances performance and reliability in the gas stream.

Agilent

Agilent launched two systems; the 6495 Triple Quadrupole LC/MS (LC/TQ) System and the Revident Quadrupole Time-of-Flight LC/MS (LC/QTOF) System.

The 6495 Triple Quadrupole LC/MS (LC/TQ) System instrument was built for research with production-ready robustness, ensuring increased sample measurements due to greater efficiency and reduced instrument downtime.

The Agilent Revident Quadrupole Time-of-Flight LC/MS (LC/QTOF) System offers an entirely new instrument architecture couple with instrument intelligence for maximized operation time and productivity.

Bruker

Bruker introduced the unique EVOQ DART-TQ+, a high-performance workhorse that enables straightforward routing analysis from simplified tuning and method development through data analysis and report generation for improved efficiency and productivity.

Bruker also announced the launch of the new timsTOF Ultra mass spectrometer. It incorporates a new Captive Spray Ionization (CSI) Ultra ion source with larger capillary and optimized vortex gas flow, a novel 4th generation TIMS XR cell and 14bit digitizer.

Thermo

Thermo unveiled the Thermo Scientific™ Orbitrap™ Astral™ mass spectrometer. The new Astral analyser combines fast throughput, high sensitivity and deep proteome coverage to allow researchers worldwide to uncover proteins that previously evaded detection and make breakthrough discoveries more efficiently than ever.

Waters

Waters’ newest instrument combines the Waters DESI XS source with the Xevo TQ Absolute system and is five times more sensitive and five times faster than discovery-based imaging systems at precisely determining whether a particular small molecule drug product – and how much of it - reaches its intended target, such as a brain, liver, or lung, in a test subject.

Waters also showcased its PFAS analytical workflow based on the ultra-sensitive Xevo TQ Absolute mass spectrometer, chemistries, and software. The end-to-end UPLC-MS workflow allows laboratories worldwide to upgrade their capability and keep current with the latest regulatory requirements for measuring parts-per-quadrillion levels of PFAS in air, water, soil, and food.

Shimadzu

Shimadzu introduced LabSolutions Insight Biologics, a dedicated software platform for oligonucleotide characterization using the LCMS-9030 or LCMS-9050 quadrupole time-of-flight type (Q-TOF) mass spectrometer. Main product and impurity identification includes several core editors for sequence, nucleotides, linkers, ribose and base modifications.

Sciex

SCIEX launched the Intabio ZT system, the first fully-integrated microfluidic chip-based platform combining imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) separation and UV detection. When coupled with mass spectrometry (MS) identification on the ZenoTOF 7600 system, it eliminates the guesswork from early drug development stages and accelerates drug candidate selection.

PEAK Solutions
